Making your FIRST COLLECTION and SHARE donations more tax-efficient, using envelopes

There has been a good response to our initiative of using an envelope system for our First Collection and Share Collection, which began on 1 July 2017.
If you would like to participate in this scheme, please fill out the form (downloadable at the bottom of the page) and hand it in or email it to the Parish Office.
If you prefer not to use the envelope system and wish to make your contributions tax efficient, you might like to make your Collections contributions via the Parish Office. Once we can trace donations back to you, then they can be processed for tax reclaim purposes.

What are the benefits of such a system and how will it work?
Under current tax law, since we have charitable status, any cumulative donation in a given tax year to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish of €250 or more (by way of Family Offering, Dues, First Collection or Share Collection) is eligible for tax relief (amounting to almost 45% of the donation). This tax relief would be paid directly to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish.

As can be appreciated, we can only reclaim tax for First Collection or Share Collection contributions when we are able to record the source of these donations. The envelope system facilitates this.

For example, a €5 donation for the First Collection or Share Collection, using the envelope system, could possibly yield an extra €2.25 on that donation.

More information here.
If you are a tax-payer, we invite you to avail of an envelope system for the First Collection and Share Collection so that we make your donations tax-efficient and include them in the Tax Relief Scheme. This will enable us to potentially generate substantial extra revenue for our parish at no extra cost to you.

What do I do to avail of the envelope system?
Just download and complete the form below and we will have the box of envelopes ready for you to collect in June 2017. Each box will contain 52 envelopes (12 months’ supply) and each envelope will have the date and a special number that will apply to your donation. Simply place the envelope in the BLUE BASKET (First Collection) or BROWN BASKET (Share Collection) at the weekend Mass you are attending or indeed, after the appropriate weekend and we will do the rest. What is important is that we are able to claim for the donations you make.

What if I don’t wish to be part of the envelope system?
That is no problem, it just means we cannot factor your donation into the scheme to generate extra revenue for the Parish.
Another option is to make your First & Second Collection donation via the Parish office, which would be recorded for tax reclaim purposes and lodged as appropriate.
